Born in the municipality of Cantanhede, in the Bairrada region, he attended the Primary School of Venda Nova, the Preparatory Teleschool in Vilarinho do Bairro - Anadia, and the High School of Cantanhede
He graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra in the 1979-1984 class and enrolled as a Lawyer with the Coimbra Regional Council of the Bar Association in 1987
Since that year he has been practicing in Cantanhede, on Rua do Palácio da Justiça
